There is little information on the population for this species, however it was reported as common in at least one area.

From 2001 to 2019, the extent of occurrence (EOO) for this species lost 46.9 kha of tree cover, equivalent to a 1.4% decrease in tree cover since 2000. As of 2010, 97% of the native range was tree cover. There is no current evidence for any direct or indirect threats to the species (Global Forest Watch 2021).

There are currently no records of any seed accessions for this species. However, there are two ex situ collections in botanic gardens (BGCI 2021). The Libano-Hose protected area falls wholly within the species' extent of occurrence (EOO), and even though none of the georeferenced data points from current collections fall within this protected area, there is a possibility that the species is present there. Part of Crater Mountain protected area also lies within the species' EOO, with one of the collected specimen data points falling within Crater Mountain protected area, and there are a couple of other small protected areas scattered close by (UNEP–WCMC and IUCN 2021).
