From 2001 to 2019 the area from which this species was collected lost 295 ha of tree cover, equivalent to a 3.2% decrease in tree cover since 2000. There were 9 GLAD deforestation alerts (a Landsat-based alert system for tree cover loss created by the Global Land Analysis & Discover lab, using a 30-metre resolution) reported the week of the 1st of February 2021. This was normal compared to the same week in previous years. Currently, there is nothing reported to suggest any direct or indirect threats to this species (Global Forest Watch 2021).

There are currently no recorded seed accessions or occurrences in botanic gardens for this species. However, the potential range for this species from the current specimens held fall close to six protected areas including Crater mountain and Hunstein Range (although none of these protected areas fall within the species' recorded range) (Global Forest Watch 2021).
