État de la populationExpert

Known from eight sites. At the first site only known from a single plant (Adames 846); at the second (van der Burgt 1275) the plants were found in patches of c. 50×50 cm, with 5 to 15 plants per patch. About eight patches were found in an area of c. 50×20 m. Outside this area a few more plants were seen (van der Burgt pers. obs.). The third site (van der Burgt 1303) bore 10–20 plants. At the fourth site (van der Burgt 1282B), c. 10 individuals were collected. At the fifth site (Cheek 13796) a single plant; at the sixth, three plants (Cheek 13798); at the seventh, seven individuals in one patch 2×2 m (Fofana 138) and in the same area 100+ plants in a radius of c. 25 m (Fofana 142B mixed with Gymnosiphon longistylus). At the eighth site in a former Hevea plantation, 500–1,000 plants were seen over a length of path >100 m long, in a band about 10–15 m or more wide. In several spots c. 20 plants occurred in areas of 30×30 cm. Only 5–10% of the plants had open flowers. It is likely that further sites and individuals will be found if this species is sought during its flowering season in suitable evergreen lowland and submontane habitat in the Guinea Highlands.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Two of the locations are threatened by mining in Guinea and Liberia. The site at Mt Nimba (Liberia) was mined in the 1960s and 70s, it is not clear how active it is currently. In the recent past during political unrest in Guinea, some parts of the protected area at Mt Ziama were illegally cleared for agriculture. This has now been rectified and there is Forestry protection in place.
