It is common and always found as large subpopulations. There are usually about 30-50 mature plants in each subpopulation, but sometimes there may be more than 100 plants.

Habitat degradation may affect some subpopulations of Globba thorelii but there are still many places, especially in protected areas, where the species occurs. The species reproduces well both sexually and vegetatively. There is no concern about this species.
