Occurs in the Xishuangbanna Biosphere Reserve. It may also occur in the adjoining Nam Ha reserve in Lao PDR, surveys should be carried out to see if the species occurs in this area. The species is in ex situ cultivation at one botanical garden (BGCI 2018).
