According to the original publication of the synonymous name Globba unifolia var. sessiliflora (Holttum 1950), the species was common in hillside forest as well as by streams and swamps in Ulu Bendong, Kemaman/Chukai.

Most, if not all, habitat in Kemaman/Chukai has been logged and converted. There is both intact forest and converted land in Bukit Besi.
