Historical satellite imagery shows significant habitat conversion and loss, due to the expansion of agriculture and settlements, within the EOO of this species. It is assumed that this is the major threat to the species. The fact that the preferred habitat of the plant is thought to be rocky outcrops on slopes may perhaps provide the species with a degree of protection as this land is less likely to be cultivated or built on. The most recent herbarium specimen was collected in a cultivated field which may suggest that the species can also tolerate some level of disturbance.

No specific conservation measures or management plans are in place for this species and it does not occur in a protected area (UNEP-WCMC and IUCN 2022). It is not known to occur in any ex situ plant collections (BGCI 2022). With so few herbarium collections, this species is not fully understood and therefore research regarding its life history and ecology is needed. Research to establish population size and trends, together with other potential threats, is also required.
