The actual population size and trend is unknown. This species is, however, only known from one locality and it is plausible that the population is small.

There are no recorded threats which are specific to this species. There has been a relatively small amount of tree cover loss in the area (GFW 2018) which might suggest a low level of threat to the habitat. The understorey may, on the other hand, have been disturbed.

Research and monitoring of the population, uses, threats and habitat of this species are needed to better understand its conservation needs. Khao Banthat, the only known locality, seems not to be a protected area though it is right on the Cambodian border so this species may also exist there.
