The exact population size of this species is unknown. The subpopulations, although small (Lau and Lim 2012), are all situated in Taman Negara Pahang, the protection of which may offer a stabilizing effect to the population size. According to Lau (2014), this species has only been found in one place on the mountain, suggesting that the population is relatively small.

There are no recorded threats which are specific to this species and being found in a National Park may give a level of protection. This mountain is, however, visited by many tourists who, if not managed well, might threaten the species by causing a decline in the quality of habitat or by trampling.
