A search for this species was made in 2004 in which only one population was found. The surrounding habitat was somewhat disturbed and had been further disturbed when the population was revisited the following year (Lau and Lim 2012). The population size was observed to be decreasing, plausibly, due to the observed human development and animal presence (Lau and Lim 2012).

In visits to the population on Fraser's Hill, in 2004 and 2005, it was observed that the quality of habitat had declined due to human development, animal presence and clearing of forest (Lau and Lim 2012). Eco-forest trails can be found in the extent of occurrence which can cause direct harm to the plants or indirectly by causing a decline in habitat quality (Lau 2014).
