One large population was observed close to a road and it is likely that there are several subpopulations on this mountain (Lau and Lim 2012). Lau and Lim (2012) note, however, that the quality of habitat has decreased which would suggest a declining population trend. The actual population size is unknown.

The habitat has been observed to be disturbed and the species was found close to the main road up the mountain, making it especially exposed (Lau and Lim 2012). Development of infrastructure and land conversion for agriculture are other likely threats to the quality of habitat (Lau 2014).

Research and monitoring uses, habitat and possible threats to this species are needed, in order to understand its conservation needs. The limited extent of occurrence (EOO) and observed disturbance of surrounding habitat call for urgent protection of the area if this species is to remain conserved. Gunung Brinchang does not seem to be in a protected area.
