There are no known major threats specific for the species. However, overgrazing at the higher elevations by horses, sheep and goats, and at the lower elevations by cattle have been reported as a conservation problem for Tian Shan montane steppe and meadows ecoregion (Carpenter and Pereladova 2001). Mining activity occurs on the slopes of the Tian Shan for coal, iron, lead and zinc.
