État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
There is no continuing decline in the number of mature individuals and the population trend is inferred to be stable. The plant is clonal and sterile, as are several Gagea sect. Didymobulbos. It grows in dense colonies dispersing by axillary bulbils produced at every stage. The flowers are rare and never give fruit.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The species, which grows at the place where snow cover and winter activity are maximal, was likely able to survive thanks to the slow development of the local ski industry. Management of ski slopes comparable to that practiced in Europe, with scouring, weeding, seeding with invasive grass species and eutrophication, would be fatal to this plant. According to cultivation tests, it is moderately dynamic, vulnerable to eutrophication, and rather sensitive to frost if snow is lacking and hence climate change resulting in loss of snover cover (depth and/or duration) could impact the plant.
