Description complète des menacesExpert
The species survives precariously in tiny areas (usually a few m2) where it forms fluctuating, sometimes dense populations. It disappears when the vegetation becomes denser. Nitrates are lethal for this plant, both directly by toxicity, and indirectly by promoting the development of brambles and other invasive species.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species is known to occur in two Natura 2000 sites in Sicily; ITA020008 (Rocca Busambra e Rocche di Rao) and ITA020048 (Monti Sicani, Rocca Busambra e Bosco della Ficuzza), which is also a Natural Reserve. The species has been classed as Vulnerable in Sicily where it is endemic (Raimondo et al. 2011). There is a need to document known populations to enable an informed assessment of the conservation status of this species.
