Fuirena felicis

There are no current known threats to this species, however its extremely restricted range and apparently narrow habitat requirements mean that it is very vulnerable to potential stochastic events, such as flash floods and rock slides.

The first action needed is to revisit the site of the known population to:

1. Document the size of the population, as well as aspects of its ecology.
2. Assess potential threats to the population, the habitats on which it depends and the site where it occurs.
3. Assess the need to take material into cultivation to establish an ex-situ conservation resource in case of loss of the known population.

If it can be established that the population is still present, then ecological data obtained should be used to develop a search image and other sites in the region which support such habitats should be surveyed to establish whether other populations may occur in the region.

Based on the results of surveys of the known population and informed by the results of further surveys, the need for site protection should be considered.
