État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
No numerical population information is available for this species, and the current population trend is unknown. However, given the multiple threats to the forest in the Bomberai peninsula lowlands, it is likely to be decreasing.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The known collection of this species was made during surveys prior to the construction of the BP Tangguh Liquified Natural Gas site. Global Forest Watch data (Global Forest Watch 2024) shows that the site is surrounded by the 87,000 hectare wood fibre concession PT Kesatuan Mas Abadi and there is an area of oil palm to the south-east visible on satellite imagery (Google Earth 2024). The majority of the Bomberai peninsula lowlands is covered by logging concessions. The concessions to the south of the known site for this species are being actively logged, and the construction of roads is visible in many other areas, suggesting that these are about to be actively logged as well (Global Forest Watch 2024). Although there is very little information about the precise habitat requirements of this species, Freycinetia are rarely found in open habitats, and are usually understorey plants (Sinanga 2010), meaning that this species is unlikely to survive in logged or young secondary forest.
