The quality of the habitat and its status as a Nature Recreation Park, may suggest that the population is relatively stable in the Singgalan mountains, although small. The northwestern side of Gunung Talamau is not under protection, although the efforts from the locals are being made to keep it safe. The eastern side is classified by Protected Planet (2020) as Wildlife Reserve (Malampah Alahan Panjang).
