The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted for e.g. palm oil production (WWF 2018). Within the extent of occurrence there had been 15% tree cover loss by 2016 compared to 2000 (GFW 2018).

This species is according to BGCI (2018) grown in two ex situ localitites. It has been collected in Gunung Kinabalu National Park which gives the species a level of protection (Protected Planet 2018).
