The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted for e.g. palm oil production (WWF 2018). This species may, however, be somewhat protected by growing at higher altitudes. Within the extent of occurrence (EOO), over 13 % of the tree cover had been lost by 2016 compared to 2000 (GFW 2018). This suggests that there is a decline in the quality of habitat.
