The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted for e.g. palm oil production (WWF 2018). In a 16 year period (2000-2016) there was 11% tree cover loss within the extent of occurrence (EOO) (GFW 2018). This is likely to affect this species negatively.

This species is according to BGCI (2018) not grown ex situ. It has however been wild-collected in protected areas such as Kayan Mentarang National Park which provide the species with a level of protection (Protected Planet 2018). In Western Java it is in the protected area of Ujong Kulon.
