The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted for e.g. palm oil production (WWF 2018). The area where the georeferenced collection was made seems to be relatively intact when looking at satellite imagery (GFW 2018) while surrounding areas are developed. There is a severe continuing decline in the forests of this part of East Kalimantan due to forest fires and enchroachment (Poulsen 2006).
