Three of the localities are protected areas. The precise locations in Pahang and Selangor are however uncertain and the status of the population (increasing, decreasing or stable), is therefore unknown. Lim (2001) noted the species as relatively common in the Hala Bala and Belum Reserves.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. Parts of the population are known to be found in protected areas; Belum Forest Reserve/Wildlife Reserve, Hala bala Forest Reserve/Wildlife Sanctuary and Piah Forest Reserve (Lim 2001, Protected Planet 2019).
