The lower slopes of the mountain range are being cleared for expanding agriculture, however, the sites where this species has been recorded are all in a national park and are therefore relatively secure. However, if habitat clearance continues to happen within the national park, this species might be impacted in the future.

All the known localities are in Lore Lindu National Park; this is a man and Biosphere Reserve and there are actions in place to provide local communities with alternative livelihoods. No plants are reported to be grown ex situ (BGCI 2018). Monitoring of habitat trends is required.
