Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
There are currently few known threats on the remote and currently inaccessible Meseta de Caparuch. The national park has been scoped for mineral deposits (SERGOMIN 2016). At the moment no mining is being undertaken but the development of this industry would be detrimental for this species. Deposits recorded within the range of E. huanchacanum include: rock crystal, copper, clay, pyrite and kaolinite (SERGOMIN 2016). As this species is an aquatic it is particularly vulnerable to pollution which could come from mining or other human activity. Although currently not impacting the meseta habitat, the area surrounding the national park over the border in Brazil is large scale cattle grazing and mechanised agriculture. It is possible to access the meseta from the Brazilian side of the border. On the Bolivian side of the border in the lowlands of the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park the human disturbance is concentrated around the few roads largely utilized for timber transportation surrounding the national park (Ibisch et al. 1995). However, within the area surrounding the park are extractive forest reserves, cattle ranches, indigenous communities and colonization zones, any future development in these surrounding areas will have a effect on the conservation of the flora and fauna of this important protected area (Killeen and Schulenberg 1998, Killeen et al. 2003).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
This species occurs in the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park and World Heritage Site, which is currently protected area. Further research is needed into the distribution, population sizes, habitats, life history, reproductive requirements and ecology of this taxa. Depending on the outcome of this research, monitoring may be required. Ex situ conservation is recommended to mitigate against the possible future threat of mining in this region. For the national park's longevity it is important to provide sufficient resources for its protection and formal education about the ecological value of the unique plants that occur there.
