The number of mature individuals of this species in the wild is not known but it is recorded from a wide distribution and is represented in 15 protected areas (IUCN and UNEP-WCMC 2016).

There are no major threats to this species across its large distribution range, although, the species is likely to be threatened by habitat loss locally. In Ghana the species is known to be threatened by habitat loss due to land conversion to agriculture (Ouattara et al. 2015).
