Only known from its type location in Lambir Hills National Park, the population is likely to be small but stable where it is still found.
Confirmation of the presence of the species in this or other areas is highly recommended, as the type locality has not been explored recently (T.Lamb and A.D. Poulsen pers. comm. 2020).

Lambir Hills National Park is a TPA (Totally Protected Area) and there should therefore not be any major threats to this species.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2018) to be grown ex situ. It is currently only known from Lambir Hills National Park (ZRC 2018) in which the species should stay conserved (Protected Planet 2019).
