Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
Dioscorea decaryana is only known from a single valley, in combination with its low number of individuals (40). Marble extraction occurs in the Ambatofinandrahana area; if the agreements with the local community were to be terminated, marble extraction could begin in the valley it inhabits leading to habitat destruction and possibly extinction.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
It is fortunate that the only known population of Dioscorea decaryana resides within an area protected for its population of Angrecum longicalcar. This is achieved through links between Kew Madagascar Conservation Centre (KMCC) and the Mahavanona community. KMCC also provide vegetable seeds and other development initiatives for the local community. There are currently no conservation strategies implemented for the protection of D. decaryana and no known ex situ collections (BGCI 2016).
