État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
The population size of this species is not available but previous estimates of 6,000 plants in the wild included those subpopulations that now belong to Dioon stevensonii. Reducing this previous estimate by the upper value in the population estimate for D. stevensonii, a population size of 4,500 plants in the wild is suggested for D. tomasellii.
