État de la populationExpert
A survey in 1995 by Dylan Fuller showed that the only extant subpopulation numbers about 300-400 adult trees, and regeneration in this subpopulation is reasonable. A previously known subpopulation was destroyed by logging and establishment of a plantation in the 1970s (Watling 2005).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The subpopulation of the species occurs outside the Tomanivi Nature Reserve and the Wabu Forest Reserve. The protection and conservation of this population thus depends on the decisions made by the landowners of the area. There is one known ex situ collection of this species. Recommendations for conservation include: i) seed collections and establishing ex situ sites in country, ii)enhancement planting), and iii) awareness and engagement of land owners and regulatory authorities. Research is also needed into ecology and ecosystem service.
