The current population trend is unknown. This is a rarely collected species and, therefore, very little information is known about the population trend. However, given that several lowland swamps have recently been converted to rice fields in Côte d'Ivoire, the subpopulations are probably declining.

Threats to this species are not known, but drainage activities might threaten the habitats of this species. Natural swamps are often modified to rice fields in West Africa and the species can probably not survive this conversion. Sometimes, this species is collected at the edge of rice fields, but these occurrence may be the remaining individuals of former subpopulations.
