Description complète des menacesExpert
The main threat to this terrestrial orchid is habitat loss and fragmentation, with conversion of habitat for agriculture, livestock, timber extraction and urban development. Fires also pose a threat in some areas, such as the Organ Mountains in Brazil (Millar et al. 2008). The ability of the taxon to regenerate and persist in disturbed and secondary vegetation is unknown. Millar et al. (2008) report that there is a lack of political interest in conservation in some parts of its range, leading to a lack of protected areas and inadequate management of reserves.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This orchid has been collected within some conservation units, such as Prainha Natural Park (Cunha and Forzza 2007), however, habitats in most of the range are not protected. It is grown in various botanical institutions and by orchids collectors. It is currently listed on Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), giving strict regulation in order to avoid utilization incompatible with the survival of the species in the wild. As with all orchids, it should not be removed from the wild. The population should be monitored at regular intervals.
