État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
Plants are locally abundant and it was estimated that there were 2,500 to 10,000 mature individuals but very restricted in their distribution. Subsequently, a week long survey in 2007 revealed less than 300 mature plants, mostly scattered over large areas. The only surviving viable subpopulation was found within a Buddist temple area. More recently, a second large subpopulation has been found that consists of 5,000+ mature plants with excellent regeneration. Unlike the type locality the new locality is protected by Municipality Decree but it is still under threat from cement manufacturing.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
This species is apparently quite restricted in occurrence and under severe pressure from plant collectors and limestone mining operations. The whole mountain has been earmarked for cement extraction. The contract is for 100 years or as long as there is any mountain left, which ever comes first. Over 60% of the mountain has effectively been removed within the last 10 years.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
This species is listed in Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Unlike the type locality the new locality is protected by Municipality Decree but it is still under threat from cement manufacturing. Insurance of the formal protection of this species is needed. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
