Description complète des menacesExpert
The pith of the stem of Cycas sphaerica is used to make ‘sago' flour and this results in the harvest of entire plants to access the pith. Habitat loss due to mining and clearing of the uphill forests for agriculture puts additional pressure on the natural subpopulations.

Some threats like forest fire, collection of male cones and collection of tender leaves have also been observed but the impact of these activities on the population has not been determined.
