État de la populationExpert
This species is found in five separate localities. The largest subpopulation is found on Mount Arayat, with smaller subpopulations in the other known localities. Based on molecular evidence, there is insignificant genetic diversity among the individuals in Pampanga, Bataan, and Batangas, thus suggesting that despite the geographical separation, these individuals belong to only one subpopulation. The population is estimated to number between 1,000 and 1,500 mature individuals; while ongoing threats are estimated to be causing an ongoing decline of 50% over three generations.

Description complète des menacesExpert

The type locality of Cycas riuminiana is highly threatened by the development of an exclusive residential resort area. A telecommunications tower was also built at the peak of the mountain. Expansion of agricultural lands is also a threat. In the horticultural trade, the species is popular because of its slender trunk. Most of the mature plants on Mount Arayat have been removed.
