État de la populationExpert
Cycas petraea is locally abundant in Thailand, and in Laos there are fairly large subpopulations in the two locations. The subpopulation in Lao PDR have been declining but several new subpopulations were found in Thailand in 2018-2019 and there is little evidence of any imminent threats to these subpopulations (A. Lindström pers. comm.) .

Description complète des menacesExpert
Although localized, this is an abundant species, mostly occurring in relatively inaccessible sites. The present range and population size is substantially untouched, and there is little threat to the survival of the species either by collecting or habitat destruction. There are reports of limited local plant trade and some international trade in seeds has been recorded.  Although its subpopulations in Laos are gradually being reduced, large subpopulations in Vang Vieng area still remain (Averyanov et al. 2014).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species is listed in Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. There is at least one subpopulation within a protected area. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
