This species is listed in Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Almost all subpopulations are on aboriginal land, and conservation issues on such land are yet to be fully addressed. The inhibition of reproduction by too-frequent fire is one such issue. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
