Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The most likely risk to Cycas desolata is the invasive scale insect Aulacaspis yasumatsui, which has caused rapid declines in other Cycas species and mass mortality in nurseries. Invasion Watch (2019) concluded that the Aulacaspis scale represents credible risk to Australia's indigenous cycads due to its wide host range and tolerance of various ecological conditions. The scale has not yet been detected in Australia but has spread from its native Thailand to North America, Africa, Europe, China, Indonesia and Pacific islands. Models of potential spread of the scale have assessed the area where C. desolata occurs to have low to moderate habitat suitability for the invasive scale (Wei et al. 2018)
