État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
Cycas curranii occurs as small subpopulations at disjunct localities and has declined substantially over the past decade. Up until 2018, plants were numerous on the plains and slopes in Narra province. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the land was distributed among local people and land clearing has resulted in the disappearance of ca. 95% of the plants occurring on the plains.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
Cycas curranii is threatened due to the conversion of forest and grasslands into settlement areas and slash-and-burn agricultural practices, amongst others, to promote regrowth of grass. Logging has also had an effect on the habitat. As with some species within this genus, it is also susceptible to over collecting for ornamental purposes. Finally, mining is also occurring on upper slopes where C. curranii occurs near Narra.
