Description complète des menacesExpert
A publication by WWF Australia noted that Cycas couttsiana is at notable risk from illegal harvesting due its blue leaf colour, which is highly sought after in the ornamental plant trade (Hyslop and Haskard 2005). The distribution in the vicinity of White Mountain National Park includes areas that have been designated for coal mining although environmental impact assessments did not detect presence in sites designated for mining. In addition, many Cycas species are sensitive to more frequent and/or more intense fires that may be associated with changes in land use or the spread of invasive grasses. It is not known to what extent changes in fire dynamics impact C. couttsiana.
