État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
Cycas conferta is characterized by isolated and usually small but dense stands. The population estimates exceed 30,000 plants with a major concentration at Harriet Creek. Based on field studies in May 2015, this species was not relocated at some localities in where they have previously been collected (herbarium records). Therefore, a population decline is precautionarily assumed.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
In the past, the large subpopulation at Harriet Creek has been extensively harvested for seed. The impact of seed harvesting on population recruitment is not known and there is no specific evidence that seed harvesting has resulted in population decline. Some of the smaller subpopulations along the Kakadu Highway have been severely impacted by past removal of adult plants leading to declines in these subpopulations. However, because of the large numbers of plants occurring over a substantial area, the species is not presently at risk from such localised harvest. Fires may be an additional threat.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
This species is listed in Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Some stands are conserved within Kakadu National Park. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
