État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
The population size of Cycas chamaoensis was previously estimated to be in the range of 2,500 to 10,000 individuals. A survey from March 2008 found less than 100 plants left in the wild. Although two additional populations were found subsequently, they are outside of the protected area and contained fewer than 300 plants on each site. More recently it has been estimated that 90% of the total population has been removed by collectors. There are now estimated to be less than 50 mature plants left in the wild, although less than that amount were seen during a survey in 2009.
