État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
The entire population occurs in a single location and the species occurs at a particular elevation (200-500 m asl), which limits the area of possible habitat. Several subpopulations have been found in the vicinity and each subpopulation appears to be healthy and not under any immediate threat (A. Lindstrom pers. comm.).

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
Although there is no evidence of decline to date, the species is potentially threatened in future due to mining and collecting for the ornamental plant trade. The area where the species was originally found is designated for quarrying purposes and this will affect the granite cliffs where the plant is located. In addition, although there is no evidence of harvesting at present, this species could be collected for the ornamental plant as has happened with numerous Cycas species across South East Asia (A. Lindsrom pers. comm.).
