No collection records since 1937. Urban development around Kindia and cattle grazing and trampling are principle threats to this species. Mining of iron ore and bauxite from bowal may also threaten this species in the near future. The records from around Kouroussa may no longer be extant due to increased urbanisation since the collections were made.

This species is entirely unprotected currently. With no known collections since 1937, conservation priorities should focus on rediscovering the species in Guinea, targeting previous known localities. If rediscovered, conservation efforts should also focus on collecting basic baseline data on sites, number of individuals and micro-ecology. Population data as well as threats, should be recorded so that monitoring can take place. The local authorities should be informed and a poster produced to help awareness of this species. Seedbanking is advised.
