État de la populationExpert
No quantitative population data are available for this species. However, it has been recorded as 'mound-mat forming herb, several patches seen within 50 m, but not otherwise frequent' (M. Cheek pers. comm. 2016). It is known from six herbarium specimen collections dating from 1954 to 2016.

Description complète des menacesExpert
This species is threatened by grazing in the area around Kindia (C. Couch pers. obs. October 2017) and potentially through increased market gardening which converts areas of the flat sandstone bowal. In the future, climate change will be an issue for this species if the dry season length increases as this species depends on the seepage through the sandstone rocks for moisture. Bauxite extraction also threatens the habitat of this species.

Habitats préférentiels (classification IUCN)

  • 6Rocky areas (eg. inland cliffs, mountain peaks)
Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
Currently there are no conservation actions in place for this species. It does feature in the list of endemic species to Guinea in the National Monographie, but conservation status is not given. Part of the area it is found in at Kindia is within the boundary of the Classified Forest of Mt Gangan but this is officially not a protected area, however. More information is needed on population size and propagation. Monitoring of threats and population status is also required.
