The population was fairly large with about 200 mature individuals, but it is likely to occur elsewhere in the area so the population will be larger.

The habitat of this species is unsuitable for agricultural expansion and although Vang Vieng is a popular tourist destination it is unlikely to have much impact, hence there are no threats to this restricted range species.
