A total of three populations were observed in three consecutive years for Curcuma bhatii. The population show severe fragmentation in two sites. There has been an observed population decline due to grazing (M. Sabu pers. obs.).

Curcuma bhatii exhibits a narrow area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO). Presently, the species is facing immense threats because of habitat alteration, constructional activities and severe habitat fragmentation. There has been an observed population decline due to natural and introduced grazing.

Currently, no conservation action for the species is being carried out. We tried to conserve the germplasm in Calicut University Botanical Garden (CUBG) through ex situ conservation measures. We aim to preserve the genetic diversity of Curcuma bhatii in the type locality through ecological restoration activities and conservation of seed through seed banks.
