The major threats to this species are deforestation, and habitat destruction through conversion to agriculture and plantations. Also, some illegal logging activities in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica, are leading to habitat loss, affecting habitat quality and putting subpopulations outside of the protected areas under risk.
