État de la populationExpert
In Albania, it is estimated that there are 20,000 mature individuals (Shuka et al. 2009, L. Shuka pers. comm. 2015). In FYR Macedonia, there is a monitoring plan for this species, but this has not yet produced results (V. Matevski pers. comm. 2015), however L. Shuka (pers. comm 2015) estimates large populations of c.30,000 mature individuals.

Populations in both FYR Macedonia and in Albania have been observed to be declining at lower altitudes but stable at higher levels as a result of shifting habitat resulting from declining snowfall at lower altitudes (L. Shuka pers. comm 2015). The population in FYR Macedonia are between 1,800 m and 2,100 m.

Description complète des menacesExpert
It is likely that this species will be vulnerable to some effects of climate change. Loss of snow cover results in declining soil humidity levels. As a result, subpopulations have declined at lower altitudes in Albania (L. Shuka pers. comm 2015).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species occurs in protected areas in both Albania and FYR Macedonia (Galičica National Park). The plant is recorded in the Prespa protected area. The species is also reported from a number of Natura 2000 sites in Greece, however research is required to confirm the identity of plants from across the species range.

In FYR Macedonia, the plant has been assessed as a 'Strictly Protected' species in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia 39/7 October/2011.
