This assessor has seen this species at four localities across its entire range. The species is fairly common, but it occurs at scattered sites but usually there is just a single plant at a given site in primary forest areas. When it is been found in disturbed areas and secondary forest there are often many plants at a single site. It is estimated that there are an average of 20 plants per km2 of the area of occupancy. That results in a total population count of 11,760 mature individuals. The localities where this species is found are mostly protected and the assessor has not seen indications of a decline in population size.

This species is fairly common and well conserved in protected areas of the Corcovado National Park, the Reserva Forestal de Golfo Dulce and the Piedra Blancas National Park but there is no monitoring plan in place. Ex situ seed bank conservation is needed to conserve the genome.
