There are no specific threats identified for this species but its habitat is under various anthropogenic pressures including back filling for urbanisation and/or extension of these areas for rice cultivation (Ramananjanahary 2014). The uncontrolled fire of surrounding grasslands mainly to renew and improve cattle pasture can also spread within the forest (Andriamamonjy et al. 2013).
